My Skills
Core Skills
Gameplay Design
My personal favourite part of my work, gameplay design involves conceptualising how things work including gameplay systems like health, enemies, items etc.
Documentation
I love documentation, and my best modules marks-wise were based on documentation including gameplay and technical design, concept ideas etc.
Technical Design
Throughout University, most of my modules focused on some kind of technical element, based in Unreal Engine 5.
Additional skills
Balancing
As part of Gameplay Design I learned a lot about Balancing and used this extensively during my Undergraduate, especially the Junior Collaborative Project game Elementos.
Materials & VFX
For the Masters collab game Doomveil I learned about and made a range of materials and VFX in Unreal Engine 5, including extensive use of the Niagara system.
Animation
For a Master's Computer Games Design module I learned the basics of Animation in Blender for shooting animations.
3D Modelling
I haven't touched it in a while but at Banbury College I learned some 3D Modelling during my Video Game Design and Programming course.
My Tools
Core Tools

Extensive use of the Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint and Word programs throughout University.

Miro was my tool of choice for planning documentation throughout most of my degrees, both Undergraduate and Masters

Adobe Photoshop was used for textures, wireframes, diagrams etc.

My engine of choice learned throughout my time at the University of Staffordshire. I made a variety of prototypes ranging in genre.
Additional Tools

I learned 3DS Max at Banbury College, in which I made some basic medieval weapons and environmental props for a castle interior scene.

As part of the Junior/Senior dynamic during my Undergraduate degree we used JIRA for evidencing task progress at junior level, and making and tracking these tasks at senior level.

For the Game Feel and Polish Masters module, I used Blender to animate an M1 Garand and the player's arms for a WW2-era shooting gallery game.

As part of my 2024 GradEx submission I made a UE5 weather visualization system using real-life, real-time weather conditions via OpenWeather API and UE5 plugins.

For the 3 collaborative projects I worked on we used GitHub for file management and resource control. I would also like to start using GitHub for my individual projects.
