For the Advanced Prototyping module as part of Masters Computer Game Design, I expanded my year-long casino project with a fully-functional, playable version of Blackjack in Unreal Engine 5, using in-world card assets. These assets have multiple different designs the player unlocks through play, working as a form of prestige system, in order Bronze - Silver - Gold - Diamond.
Purpose - In semester 1 of Masters, I made a slot machine for the "Advanced Gameplay Design and Research" module, which then gave me the idea to do 1 new casino game per semester, and at the end of the academic year have a small, fully playable casino project. I thus went for Blackjack as A) It is my personal favourite casino game, and B) This would allow me to learn how to make a functional card game in UE5, which I had thought about but never committed to learning before.
